BC3 Launches Entrepreneurship Academy
In late January, BC3 became the site of a new Entrepreneurship Academy that takes the college-in-a-high-school concept to a new level.
The program – designed to provide high school seniors from participating schools with hands-on business experience – was made possible thanks to a $100,000 state grant received by the Midwestern Intermediate Unit 4, which previously had operated the program in Mercer County. The grant money allowed the MIU4 to expand the successful program into Butler County. Read more...
Seniors from seven Butler County school districts are eligible for acceptance into the academy. To be considered, students must submit an application that includes a two-to three-minute video introduction outlining their future goals. The Butler, Karns City, Mars, Moniteau, Seneca Valley, Slippery Rock, and South Butler school districts are participating in the academy. Show less...

Nursing Program Receives Re-Accreditation
In early 2015, BC3’s nursing program began the rigorous process of receiving continued accreditation by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing. A team from ACEN visited the campus in January, and issued its formal notification to BC3 on July 29 that it was granting continuing accreditation of the Nursing, R. N. program. In its formal notification, ACEN thanked the nursing faculty and staff at BC3 for its commitment to quality nursing education. Read more...

Nursing Program at BC3 Reviewed

It’s been another amazing year for BC3. Not only did 2015 mark our 50th anniversary, but it brought significant advancements in our programs and offerings.
On March 3, 2015, we celebrated 50 years as the community’s college. Our golden anniversary celebration included special guest speakers, historic displays, a time capsule, and the production of a commemorative book.
The BC3 Education Foundation, Inc. continued to raise money for the Pioneer Proud Campaign. The Heaton Family Learning Commons, a major initiative of the campaign, is well underway as the new high-tech hub of Main Campus. In all, 82 percent of the College community contributed to the campaign that has greatly exceeded its initial goal of $5.5 million.
The College entered into degree completion partnership agreements giving students the opportunity to earn a bachelor’s degree through one of our university partners, while remaining on main campus.
BC3’s Nursing Program received re-accreditation by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing and was commended for its commitment to quality nursing education.
The Pioneer Women’s Volleyball and Pioneer Golf teams won championships. A new Charles W. Dunaway Pioneer Hall of Fame was unveiled during a special dedication ceremony in the Field House on main campus.
Perhaps the best news of all is that BC3 was named the #1 community college in Pennsylvania by Schools.com.
We are incredibly proud of the accomplishments of our students, faculty, and staff and look forward to another 50 years of offering quality education to the communities we serve.

Adult Learners Turn Life Experience Into College Credit
In early February, Pennsylvania’s 14 community colleges unveiled a statewide plan allowing adult learners to apply life and work experience toward college credit.
The College Credit Fast Track has been proven to boost degree completion rates in Pennsylvania, particularly in the adult student segment. Faculty members who are knowledgeable in the evaluation of non-traditional learning experiences compare them against the objectives of existing academic credit courses to determine if they qualify under the terms of the initiative. Read more...In order to be eligible for college credit, prior learning experiences must:
- Be equivalent to college-level learning;
- Be publicly verifiable through objective measurements;
- Be grounded in both theory and practice; and
- Have general application outside of the specific situation in which the experience was acquired.
The College Credit Fast Track program is funded by a $2.5 million grant from the U.S. Department of Labor.

BC3 President Represents Community College Interests During Legislative Summit
From February 10-13, President Neupauer attended the 2015 Community College Legislative Summit in Washington, D.C., where he had the opportunity to serve as a voice for the 14 community colleges in Pennsylvania. President Neupauer was joined by BC3 Trustees Board Chairman Ray Steffler and BC3 Trustee Grace Hawkins.
President Neupauer, Hawkins, and Steffler met with U.S. Congressman Keith Rothfus, R-12, U.S. Senator Pat Toomey, R-15 and U.S. Senator Bob Casey, D-PA during the summit. Community college trustees, presidents, students, and other advocates joined forces to reinforce the value of a community college education, workforce training, and economic development. Pioneer Proud Event Held in Florida
Longtime college supporters Bob and Gail Hunter, and Nancy and Joe Mycka, were joined by more than 30 friends of BC3 at the Hyatt Regency Coconut Point in Bonita Springs on February 19.
The guests of the Hunters and Myckas were treated to a reception and remarks from BC3 President Neupauer, Bob Heaton, and former BC3 student Megan Lowry. Architectural drawings of the new Heaton Family Learning Commons were presented by Brian Opitz, BC3 Executive Director of Operations. Ruth Purcell, Executive Director of the BC3 Education Foundation, Inc., thanked the group for their tremendous support for the Pioneer Proud Campaign. Pioneer Men's Basketball Completes Impressive Season
The Pioneer Men's Basketball team entered the Western Pennsylvania Collegiate Conference (WPCC) playoffs this year seeded third.
The team faced the Community College of Allegheny County – Boyce, falling 88 to 77. Austin Miller scored 19 points for the Pioneer, followed by teammate Dom Pusateri with 16 points.
The team also competed in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region XX, Division III Tournament, held at the Community College of Allegheny County. The team fell to top-seeded Prince George (Washington) Community College 112-103. Read more...Article: Butler Eagle

BC3 Celebrates 50th Anniversary of Charter Year
On March 3, 2015, Butler County Community College celebrated 50 years of being Pioneer Proud.
BC3’s golden anniversary included an afternoon with special guests at the Succop Theater and Cultural Center. A special video presentation – recounting highlights from the last 50 years – was shown to students, faculty and invited guests. Rho Phi Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa Inducts New Members
On March 17, BC3's Rho Phi Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa held its Spring Induction Ceremony, featuring keynote speaker Julia Carney, Instructor in the Nursing and Allied Health Division. In total, 77 students joined the honors society during the spring semester. Officers included: Stephanie Brackbill, Sarah Kasunic, Jennifer Harris, Molly Fair, and Jenna Massaro. Read more...
On October 14, the Rho Phi Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa held its Fall Induction Ceremony, featuring keynote speaker Mrs. Deb Kruger, Instructor in the Humanities and Social Sciences Division. In total, 39 students joined the organization during the fall semester. Officers included: Sarah Kasunic, Jennifer Harris, Trista Smith, E. Shane McCaslin, and Bryson Fox.

President Neupauer Represents Interests of Community Colleges Before State Senate
President Neupauer testified before the Senate Appropriations Committee in early March representing the interests of the 14 Pennsylvania community colleges. Elizabeth Bolden, President and CEO of the Pennsylvania Commission for Community Colleges, and Dr. Ann Bieber, President of Lehigh Carbon Community College, joined President Neupauer in testifying before the committee.
During his testimony, President Neupauer and his colleagues expressed their gratitude for the continued support of the Senators and the chairmen and members of the Appropriations and Education committees. PA’s community colleges enrolled over 344,000 students during the 2014-2015 academic year and regularly adjusted their academic and workforce development programming to accommodate the changing needs of the region. President Neupauer Featured Speaker at AICUP
On March 24, BC3 President Neupauer served as a featured speaker for the Association of Independent Colleges and Universities of Pennsylvania (AICUP) at its annual meeting.
AICUP is the only statewide organization exclusively serving the interests of private higher education in Pennsylvania. Established in October 1995, it complements and supports the work of campus leaders. As part of its mission, AICUP educates policymakers, media representatives and civic and corporate leaders about the benefits, value, and quality education offered by Pennsylvania’s independent colleges and universities. BC3 Students, Faculty, Trustees and Staff Converge on Capitol Hill
Hundreds of students, faculty, trustees, and staff from Pennsylvania’s 14 community colleges converged on Capitol Hill to push for adequate state funding of community colleges at the annual Pennsylvania Commission for Community Colleges’ Lobby Day. During this year’s event, community college representatives sought an additional $15 million in funding to help support quality academic and workforce programming. Read more...
President Neupauer addressed legislators on the vital role of community colleges in Pennsylvania’s education and workforce development systems. "The colleges offer accessible, affordable, high quality education, and workforce programs in communities across the state and contribute to the Commonwealth’s economic growth and global competitiveness . . . and depend on state appropriations to continue their work," he said during his address. Two BC3 Students Inducted in All-PA Academic Team
BC3 students Andrea Dean of Valencia and Jenna Massaro of Ellwood City were inducted into the 2015 All-Pennsylvania Academic Team by the Pennsylvania Commission for Community Colleges and Phi Theta Kappa (PTK). PTK is the national honor society for two-year colleges. Read more...
Dean and Massaro were among the 45 community college students from the Commonwealth's 14 community colleges who were honored at the 21st annual awards banquet, held in Harrisburg. Students were honored for their academic achievements and their commitment to their colleges and communities.
Dean was a 2013 Mars High School graduate who plans to transfer to Edinboro University to pursue a degree in speech and hearing science. Her eventual goal is to earn a master’s degree. She is active in the Rho Phi Chapter of PTK at BC3 and spearheaded the development of BC3’s 50th anniversary time capsule project. She also volunteers her time as a youth group leader at her church.
Massaro has future plans to pursue a doctorate in English and creative writing. She earned a spot on the BC3 Dean's and/or President’s list every semester and served as the vice president of the Rho Phi Chapter of PTK at BC3. Show less...Article: Butler Eagle

Geyer Appointed to PA Commission for Community Colleges Board of Directors
BC3 Trustee Kimberly Geyer was appointed to the Board of Directors of the PA Commission for Community Colleges during the commission’s annual meeting in Harrisburg.
Elizabeth Bolden, President and CEO of the commission said the newly-appointed Board of Directors includes leaders who are "committed to expanding student success, access, and affordability across the state." Read more...The Board of Directors is the governing body of the commission, with executive committee members serving two-year terms.
Geyer has served on the BC3 Board of Trustees (link) since 2011. She has service on the Finance Committee and the Quality Assessment Committee, and is a member of the BC3 Education Foundation, Inc. Board.

CCLC Receives Bright Star Award
The BC3 Children’s Creative Learning Center (CCLC) is dedicated to providing developmentally-appropriate learning experiences that are individually tailored to ensure success for each child.
On May 1, the CCLC received the Bright Star Award for the third quarter of the 2014-2015 state fiscal year. The award was presented by Elana Como, executive director of Northwest Regional Key to Quality Early Learning through the Northwest Institute of Research, and Dr. Jocelyn Smrekar, from the Early Childhood Education faculty at Clarion University, who were co-sponsors of the award. Charles W. Dunaway Pioneer Hall of Fame Unveiled
The new Charles W. Dunaway Pioneer Hall of Fame was unveiled on May 6 during a special dedication and induction ceremony at the BC3 Field House.
Dunaway is associated with a number of "firsts" at BC3. He was the first basketball coach in 1968, and also the first coach for the baseball, golf, and cross country teams. In 1971, he became BC3’s first athletic director – a role in which he served for 32 years until his retirement. He also oversaw the BC3 Fieldhouse, which added legitimacy to the athletic programs at the college. Remembering Richard "Dick" Rittelmann
On May 10, BC3 lost a longtime ally and friend with the passing of Richard "Dick" Rittelmann.
Rittelmann served on the BC3 Board of Trustees from 2008 until his passing this month. He also served as an adjunct professor at BC3 where he taught architecture classes with now-retired professor Joe Vaughan.
BC3 President Neupauer called Rittelmann "incredibly supportive" of BC3, noting he provided expertise with the collective bargaining, strategic planning, and benchmarking. "This is a tremendous loss." Read more...Rittelmann was a partner with the internationally-known architectural firm Burt Hill Kosar Rittelmann Associates. He had a passion for creating high-performance buildings designed with maximum energy conservation in mind. He retired from the company in 2006. Show less...

39 Nurses Pinned During Annual Ceremony
On May 14, 39 nursing students were awarded their nursing pins during BC3’s Annual Nurses Pinning Ceremony. President Neupauer, accompanied by BC3 Board of Trustees’ Chairman Ray Steffler, attended the pinning.
The nurses pinning, a symbolic welcoming of graduating nurses into the nursing profession, is an annual tradition at BC3. The new nursing graduates are presented with nursing pins and recite the Nightingale Pledge. The BC3 nursing pin was designed by the first ADN class, which graduated in 1974. The College seal was the model for the pin’s design. The pin is gold, trimmed with the royal blue of the College’s colors. The date the first class entered the program – 1973 – is in Roman numerals at the bottom of the pin. BC3 Holds 47th Annual Commencement
BC3 held its 47th Annual Commencement in the Field House on main campus to celebrate the 2015 graduating class. The ceremony was followed by a reception in Founders Hall. Approximately 525 students graduated from BC3 in the 2014-2015 academic year. Read more...
Dr. Thomas Ten Hoeve, Past President of BC3 from 1970-1984 gave the keynote address. Chris Calhoun (’81), BC3 Professor and Coordinator of the Parks and Recreation Program, was the Distinguished Alumni speaker. BC3 student and Metrology major, Lee Thompson, was the student speaker. BC3 student and Nursing major, Stephanie Brackbill, spoke as the new student alumni representative. BC3 student and Phi Theta Kappa member, Andrea Dean, presented the tassel to the College mace. BC3 student and Social Work major, Hunter Green, presented the tassel to the 50th Anniversary time capsule.
Around 225 students marched in the ceremony. Of the 525 graduates, there were 16 military veterans, 24 students receiving two degrees, and 3 students receiving three degrees. Show less...Flickr Photo Album:

BC3 Pioneer Golf Team Makes History
The BC3 Pioneer Golf Team had an outstanding season in 2015.
The team won the Western Pennsylvania Collegiate Conference (WPCC) and Pennsylvania Collegiate Athletic Association (PCAA) state championships in the Fall of 2014 before moving on to capture the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region XX championship in the Spring of 2015. Knoch graduate Steffan Carlsson also earned the individual title at the championship, followed by teammate Tommy Dimun. Read more...The team advanced to the NJCAA national tournament this month, where they finished 7th place – the team’s best-ever finish in the event. Carlsson and Dimun earned All-American honors by finishing 15th and 16th respectively in individual scoring. It was the second All-American title for Carlsson.

BC3 broke ground on the renovation to transform the library into the 21st Century Heaton Family Learning Commons.
Robert R. Heaton, a real estate developer and lifelong Butler resident, generously made a $1 million gift to the College towards the project in 2014. The state awarded BC3 a $2.35 million grant to fund half of the $4.7 million library capital renovation. The Pioneer Proud Campaign focused on an initiative to transform the library fund the remaining $2.35 million. Six-Year Contracts Approved at BC3
Six-year contracts were approved for secretarial and clerical support personnel and custodial and maintenance staff at BC3.
BC3 Board of Trustees signed off on the agreements, which will increase annual salaries by 3 percent each year for the first three years of the contract, followed by a 3.5 percent increase for the next 18 months, and a 3.25 percent increase over the final 18 months. Changes to the employee healthcare plan also were included as part of the new contract. New Fire Safety Trailer Enhances Training Experience
BC3 was the recipient of a new fire safety trailer thanks to the generosity of the Cranberry Community Chest Project of the Year.
The program purchased a trailer for training at BC3's Public Safety Training Facility and also funded 12 $1,000 firefighter scholarships for BC3 students. Read more...The trailer will be used to help meet the College's ongoing goal of boosting fire safety training and firefighter recruitment across Butler County. Fire safety trailers can be used to build on a quality fire-training curriculum by providing students with hands-on learning opportunities to supplement classroom instruction. Fire scenarios can be simulated in various areas of the trailer, including the kitchen, bathroom, and bedrooms. Five Faculty Recognized for Best Practices
Five BC3 faculty members were named as the recipients of the 2015 Best Practices in Teaching and Learning Awards. Certificates are awarded annually to recipients who have demonstrated excellent pedagogical strategies that promote effective student learning.
The following BC3 faculty members were recognized: Dr. Randall Kruger, Instructor in the Nursing and Allied Health Division; Erika Nail, Instructor in the Business Division; Travis Timmons, Instructor in the Humanities and Social Sciences Division ; and Charlene Wright, Professor in the Business Division. Golf Outing Sets Fundraising Record
The BC3 Education Foundation, Inc. has hosted an annual golf outing for nearly two decades as a fundraiser for student scholarships and other college initiatives and improvements.

New Associate Degree Programs Available for Fall Semester
BC3 began offering two new associate degree programs this semester.
An Associate in Arts in History and an Associate of Arts and Sciences in Applied Industrial Technology were approved by the BC3 Board of Trustees in May and officially became available to students beginning in the fall semester. Read more...The Applied Industrial Technology program is a combination of computer-aided drafting (CAD), computer-aided machining, and automation. It is designed to provide students with a broad foundation in the field. An advisory board, consisting of local industrial leaders, helped craft the broad-based course of study.
Coursework for the History program was previously offered as part of the General Studies program and was adjusted to create a separate program for History.

In 2015, the College developed BC3 @ Armstrong, offering degrees and classes in Armstrong County, for the first time in over a decade.
Students are able to earn associate degrees in one of three majors: Business Administration, General Studies, and Psychology. Classes are held at the NexTier Adult Learning Center at Lenape Tech. The Foundation seeks and manages private gifts to support BC3 with student scholarships, faculty enhancement awards, and grants for capital and program improvements.
Hovanec is the retired President and COO of Peoples TWP. A graduate of Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP), he previously served on the IUP Board of Trustees and IUP Foundation Board. He also is a member of the BC3 Pioneer Proud Campaign Steering Committee.
Heaton is a Butler native. He worked in the funeral industry until retirement, followed by the successful development of residential and commercial properties throughout Butler County. He co-manages RHGL Enterprises in Butler with his daughter, Leanne.
Knisley is the Senior Vice President Commercial Banking, Regional Manager for First National Bank of Pennsylvania's Northwest Region. He has over three decades of experience in the banking industry. Show less...Articles:

In 2015, the Board appointed four new members: Sarah G. Peart-Forbes, Brain K. McCafferty, Carmine A. Scotece and Stephen J. Newcaster.
Peart-Forbes’, Psy.D., term runs through June 30, 2017; McCafferty, Owner of Kenmac Rentals and Sales, has a term expiration of June 30, 2021; Scotece, the retired Director of Butler County Human Services, has a term that runs through June 30, 2019; and Newcaster, a Senior Associate with Stantec, has a term through June 30, 2019. Pioneer Proud Campaign Reaches $5 Million
The BC3 Education Foundation, Inc. raised $5 million during the quiet phase of the Pioneer Proud Campaign. Monies raised during the campaign support the transformation of the college library, student scholarships, and economic development. Read more...
The quiet phase of the campaign was launched in January 2013, with a goal of $5.5 million. As of September, the campaign was well on its way toward reaching that goal, with just under $5 million raised. The largest donation to the silent phase of the campaign was made by Robert R. Heaton, a real-estate developer and lifelong Butler resident, in the amount of $1 million. It was the largest donation from an individual BC3 has ever received.
The quiet phase of the campaign officially ended in at the end of this month. The Foundation hopes to raise the remaining funding needed for the Pioneer Proud Campaign during the public phase of the campaign. Show less...Article:

BC3 Students First Firefighter Scholarship Awardees
Michael Riley, Alysha Bricker, Samuel Stewart, Melisa Stoner, and Cole Campbell are the first students to receive BC3’s new $1,000 firefighter scholarship. The Cranberry Township Community Chest raised more than $260,000 to establish the scholarship as part of an effort to recruit volunteer firefighters in Butler County. Read more...
Scholarships are available to 12 students in Butler County who are volunteer firefighters or are training to become a firefighter. Recipients will take the 180-hour Firefighter Essentials Training that prepares firefighters for the Firefighter I Certification Test. BC3 Symposium Explores Disaster Preparedness
On September 24, a panel met at BC3 to discuss the importance of emergency preparedness. From planning to recovery, the panel explored ways to manage disaster situations.
Speakers included Chris Panian, a Commercial Analyst and Adviser for Central Electric Cooperative, and Steve Bicehouse, Director of Butler County Emergency Services. Panian spoke to attendees about the impact of electrical outages during a disaster situation. Bicehouse spoke about the coordination of response from Butler County’s 56 municipalities. First Middle States Visit Starts Re-Accreditation Process
This year, BC3 began the re-accreditation process with the Middle States Commission on Higher Education.
Middle States is a voluntary, peer-based, nonprofit association that performs peer evaluation and accreditation of public and private universities, colleges, secondary schools, and elementary schools in the United States. Middle States is one of six regional accreditation organizations and is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation. Read more...The first stage in the re-accreditation process for BC3 was a preliminary visit by Dr. Barbara Risser, President of Finger Lakes Community College. Dr. Risser spent two days at BC3 and reviewed the BC3 Self-Studay Report in preparation of a full Middle States team visit in March 2016.

BC3, PSU Commonwealth Campuses Sign Articulation Agreements
BC3 signed an articulation agreement with Pennsylvania State University (PSU) this month to ensure the smooth transfer of BC3 graduates to bachelor's degree programs at any of the 14 PSU Commonwealth Campuses. Over 20 representatives from BC3 and various PSU Commonweath Campuses were in attendance at the signing event. Read more...
Students who earn an associate degree from BC3 can apply to any PSU Commonwealth Campus and transfer all of the credits towards similar bachelor's degree programs offered at the Penn State location of their choice. Transfer application fees will be waived for BC3 students who meet PSU admissions requirements.

Each year, the United Way of Butler County brings together local businesses, human service agencies, and faith-based organizations for the annual day of caring. The community-wide event is designed to encourage hands-on volunteerism to help complete projects for county nonprofit organizations.

Disney Institute Brings Quality Service Excellence Training to BC3
The professional development and external training arm of The Walt Disney Company visited BC3 on October 15 to present the one-day seminar, Disney’s Approach to Quality Service.
The BC3 Business and Industry Training Institute worked with local community members beginning in February to discuss the opportunity to bring Disney’s world-class training program to the Butler area. Following eight months of planning, a customer service training workshop was offered to the area’s business community on BC3 main campus. Read more...The program hosted 205 individuals from area businesses and the College and attracted out-of-town participants from Philadelphia, Maryland, Connecticut, and Texas. "Selecting the training program, Disney’s Approach to Quality Service, was a direct response to our community’s request for customer service training," said Lisa Campbell, BC3 Director of Business and Industry Training.
"The Disney Institute is a clear example of what it means to be the community’s college," said President Neupauer. "Community members asked for training on leadership and customer service. Their desire was for us to partner with the world-famous Disney Institute to deliver such training; that’s exactly what we did."

BC3 President Speaks on Value of Nonprofit Management Certification
On October 20, President Neupauer addressed attendees at the Butler County Chamber of Commerce concerning the new Nonprofit Professional Development and Management Certification Program.
BC3 partnered with the Chamber to offer the new program. Members of the business and industry community will serve as instructors. It is designed for individuals who have chosen a career in nonprofit management. The annual BC3 Oak Hills Legacy Dinner was held on October 24 in Founders Hall. The dinner honored donors and recognized students who received scholarships for the 2015-2016 academic year. Nearly 350 guests attended the event. Read more...
The 2015 Distinguished Alumni were honored at the Oak Hills Dinner. They are: Joseph L. Gray, P.E. ('85), Owner of Gray Consulting; Eric S. Stanfield ('91), Project Leader with the Dimensional Metrology Group at NIST; and Rebecca L. Villegas ('04), Dealer Relations Manager for Mercedes-Benz Financial Services.
In addition to recognizing scholarship students, donors, and distinguished alumni, 10 people were announced as new members of the Oak Hills Society. New members are individuals who have contributed more than $10,000 to BC3.
For the 2015-2016 academic year, the BC3 Education Foundation, Inc. awarded 107 scholarships to 145 students. There were 24 students who received the full-tuition President’s Scholarship. Total scholarship funds awarded were $280,000.
A newly-created scholarship in 2015 is the Varischetti Family Scholarship, established in January with a $50,000 contribution from the Frank Varischetti Foundation. The scholarship is exclusively for students attending BC3 @ Brockway, and will reward students who complete nine hours of classes each semester in good academic standing. The CCLC Dedicates Outdoor Nature Classroom
BC3's Children's Creative Learning Center (CCLC) dedicated its outdoor nature classroom, Green Garden Park, on October 21. Designed by Moore Design Associates, Green Garden Park encourages learning, discovery, and play in a natural setting. Read more...
Located behind the CCLC facility, the outdoor classroom features a gardening area, a slide built into the hillside, a place for music with stationary instruments, and an area to work with natural materials.
A $25,000 grant from the Alcoa Foundation helped bring the project to fruition. Pioneer Women Capture WPCC, NJCAA Crowns
It was a phenomenal year for the Pioneer Women’s Volleyball team. The team captured both the Western Pennsylvania Collegiate Conference (WPCC) and the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region XX titles.
The Pioneers were the top seed headed into the WPCC tournament, where they first defeated the Community College of Beaver County in the semifinals, followed by the title-winning sweep of Pennsylvania Highlands Community College. The second annual Bowling for Scholars event was held on November 13 at Family Bowlaway in Butler, raising over $14,500. This year’s event drew 200 participants, twice the amount who participated in the inaugural year. Proceeds from the event benefit the BC3 Alumni Legacy Scholarship. Read more...

The Pennsylvania Commission for Community Colleges hosts three regional Board of Trustee meetings in the fall of each academic year.
The 2015 western meeting was hosted by the Community College of Beaver County (CCBC) on November 19.
